Review of Manufactured Landscapes (2006) by Adam A — 23 Jun 2007
Visually mesmerizing. A 21st century "Koyaanisqatsi" with a powerful environmental message. Short of going to China there is no better way to sense the mind-bending scale of industrial, environmental, and urban transformation going on there.
As important is the gathering momentum behind China's appetite for materials and energy , a hunger that will dwarf the US emergence as an industrial power, and at a time when the West has already used up most of the world's cheap energy.
Makes it clear that things are going to get bumpier sooner than you might expect.
