Review of Mannequin (1987) by Hannah B — 23 Dec 2010
This, I remember, was one of my Dad's favorite comedies, since he hired it from the video store on at least four occasions.
Among the things Dad raved about was a supporting character, Hollywood Montrose; a stereotypically flamboyant department store visual merchandiser.
"Wait until you get a load of his (Andrew McCarthy's character) kinky mate!', were my Dad's words.
When I got around to watching Mannequin for myself, I thought that it was weak.
Another character is a hapless department store security guard, played by someone from the Police Academy films.
It's only because of Kim Cattrall is known for her work on Sex in the City, that this film is so readily available on DVD.
