Review of Manic (2001) by Julie K — 28 Mar 2010
The writers had no idea what they were doing. We can't create a connection with the characters because they're one or two dimensional. And whatever development we get are based on cliche and nothing original.
It never really has anything interesting to say. The cinematography was just giving me a headache (imagine watching the zoom ins during The Office X's 10 plus make it 1 1/2 hours long). None of the characters deserve their emotional climax.
It seems like they just didn't know how to move from scene to scene. It was ridiculous to see Levitt's character go after Deschanel's when she says "sorry." We can easily predict what's going to happen between each character as soon as we get their first interaction.
The only good thing about this film was that the actors did a good job.
