Review of Maniac (2012) by James H — 16 Jun 2013
Heavy on POV sequences, they came across as a gimmick rather than useful to the movie. Combine that with generally uninteresting characters and a serial killer who is neither terrifying nor darkly empathetic and you get a movie experience that offers up one frustrating moment after another.
The production between POV and 3rd Person shots provides quite unique visuals and the gore reaches terrifying heights of realism but these aspect alone were not enough to craft a compelling movie experience.
