Review of Maniac (1980) by Peter G — 13 Mar 2008
A raw, unpolished, extreme and ultimately tragic horror about the final days in the life of a tormented killer. Joe Spinell is convincingly sad and scary in his first starring role scripted by himself.
The film delivers everything in the matter of atmosphere and gore, but also a very well-crafted suspense in most scenes. The subway sequence is one hell of an intense nail-biter.
