Review of Maniac (1980) by Paul M — 25 Mar 2007
Harrowing film about a serial killer doing his thing around NYC, it shares a similar atmosphere as NYC-set slasher films as Last House on Dead End Street, Driller Killer and, the New York Ripper. Very disturbing and misogynistic yet still somewhat compelling film.
Worth a watch for the outstanding effects work by Tom Savini (who also appears briefly in the film) alone.
