Review of Maniac (1980) by Richard C — 04 Nov 2007
A rather flaccid attempt at the serial killer/ slasher genre that garnered more attention on its release than it actually deserves. Aside from the odd bloody set-piece, this film runs on neutral with jarring characterization, incoherent plotting and a laughable attempt at portraying a "maniac".
Held in some quarters as the ultimate "Grindhouse" film but unfortunately in this a case the bark is definitely worse than the bite.
