Review of Manhunter (1986) by Branden W — 02 Nov 2012
Hannibal Lecter, before there was Anthony Hopkins or the mainstream Red Dragon series. 'Manhunter' is dark and intense, and officially became one of my favorite serial killer flicks upon first seeing.
Tom Noonan is phenomenal as always, as his constant reoccurring role as a pedophile or serial killer in future features such as the X-files is most likely because of his creepiness as the "Tooth Fairy" in this film.
The British clean-cut version of Hannibal Lecter is depicted as more intelligent and less monstrous as the Silence of the Lambs version. Also, the soundtrack is interesting, to say the least, as this film is simply far before its time.
The ending scene is truly intense and makes it so that no one will ever think of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" the same way again!
