Review of Manhattan Romance (2013) by Brendan N — 06 Oct 2018
I had wondered where Katherine Waterston had come from and I finally came across one of her indie films. The film is at times bizarre but never dull, this is why indie filmmaking is leagues in front of the Hollywood mechanism.
Besides Woody ALlen crafting films in his style and with unpredictable beats, filmmakers tend to fall on the Hollywood sword. The conclusion is fitting with the storytelling and I applaud writer/director for not giving the audience a super sweet finale.
Waterston is the heart of the film and she is very cute and adorable, even if the film mirrors some of Chasing Amy's storyline. Interesting film that deserves more recognition. 05/10/2018.
