Review of Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) by Rafael T — 17 Oct 2010
Loved it. Great mystery/romance/comedy mix. Diane Keaton shines in this one, angelica Houston adds a lot too, and woody it's just too funny, when he said "i can't listen to that much Wagner I feel the urge to invade Poland" I was tear laughing.
There is also a great chemistry between the cast. And though you can see the ending coming , there is a brilliant twist related to the Helen Moss character ( I don't like when people tells me what happens in a movie so I don't specify in my reviews), didn't see that one coming.
As to movie making I think it's very well directed, it's the hand of a master, and a master of simplicity that is. All goes so natural you don't feel you are in a movie. The city is like a whole character, it has great great great outtakes and it really adds up more of a flavor to simple scenes by just giving live to this amazingly Photogenic city.
Overall it's a great movie, and great comedy, I haven't see a lot of woody allen's work but I surely am cheking out some more soon.
