Review of Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) by Nikki D — 29 Jul 2011
A quirky little movie. It doesn't ask a lot of the viewer, and it doesn't offer a lot. If you're a fan of Allen's trademark NYC Jewish angst, you'll undoubtedly find this film additionally pleasant. If you're not, it isn't the sole focal point of the film and that helps the film a lot.
Allen keeps you interested throughout. While the characters never are very empathetic or even terribly interesting, they're enough to keep things moving along at a reasonable pace. There are a few genuinely humorous moments (the elevator scene in particular), but these are few and far between.
