Review of Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) by John A — 22 Apr 2014
Genius! This film has a bit of everything: classic Woody Allen self-deprecating humour; touching scenes of neurotic couples trying to fall out of love without realising they are hopelessly in love despite themselves; ridiculous farce which makes you want to shout at the characters; a tense Hithcockian climax full of atmospherics and brilliant camera work; music, mayhem; and maybe even murder! It shouldn't work, but somehow it does, largely because of the great ensemble acting from Diane Keaton, Alan Alda, Anjelica Houston, and Jerry Adler.
