Review of Manhattan (1979) by Amr M — 20 Jul 2010
A very good movie indeed. I need to read more about the circumstances surrounding this movie's making. As I read , it was made in black and white on purpose.. it was like a valentine gift from Allen to his beloved city ..
However, I think Allen is slightly repeating himself, considering the similarities between this movie and the other masterpiece "Annie hall" ..
The story of broken love and frustrations, the "thinker" whom Allen is representing in the movie seems to be a lot weired and helpless in front of love relations ..
He falls in love with a young girl .. and keeps advicing her to be open to life and have more realistic relations.. but finally the movie ends up showing the young girl may be more "understanding" what love really is.
