Review of Manhattan (1979) by Stephen M — 25 Nov 2010
Classic Woody Allen, very witty and enjoyable, but it's so incredibly hard to get past the absurdity of his relationship with the high school girl Hemingway. Couldn't they have written her as a college sophomore, at the very least? That whole thing was just creepy. I read old critics reviews and it was nary mentioned at all. Was this considered legit back then? It certainly doesn't play well today.
Aside from that, it was as good as the rave reviews would lead you to expect.
