Review of Manhattan (1979) by Scott R — 27 Dec 2010
New York City shines in this wonderful black and white movie directed, written and starred by Woody Allen. The dialogues Allen wrote for this feature sound and look very natural and the bittersweet romances Allen has with co-stars Keaton and Hemingway are very touching and full of chemistry.
I loved the scene where Allen and Keaton run in Central Park during an electric storm and get really wet, it is very romantic. I was glad to listen to Woody Allen when he says to Mary (Keaton) that she's a crazy woman.
I absolutely agreed. Meryl Streep is splendid as the angry lesbian Allen's ex-wife who writes a cathartic book to take revenge of him.
