Review of Manhattan (1979) by Greg C — 19 Oct 2010
This movie has me bouncing off the wall at some levels. I love it, first of all. The artistic depth of both the black and white cinematography, as well as the brilliant script alone make it worth seeing.
Where the movie has me conflicted is how it ends up plot-wise. I was torn both artistically and logically in two different directions, which is why I loved it. My love for the brilliance of the film's entirety leading up to -- and including -- the ending itself directly opposes my personal wish that things had ended up completely differently for Isaac, mostly because his ultimate decision is not one I'd personally ever see myself making.
Which then, in turn, forces me to remember that he originally wouldn't have either, so can I even truly have faith in myself? LOL...such an emotional and logical roller coaster this movie was. It was a great watch.
