Review of Manhattan (1979) by Dean H — 28 Jan 2009
Yech. I loathe Woody Allen. And Diane Keaton. In everything they've ever done. EVERY character in this just annoys the hell out of me with their quasi-intellectual dithering and the ridiculous situations they put themselves in.
As for the city, this is a love letter to New York City at it's very lowest, and I really don't see anything very stunning about the cinematography. Before this I thought maybe I just didn't like Allen because I saw his more recent crap first, but his "classics" aren't much better.
Try Coppola's "The Conversation." THAT's a cool movie about people trying to connect with each other with badass cinematography.
