Review of Mandy (2018) by Ken T — 01 Aug 2018
I saw an "almost midnight" movie (11pm) screening of "Mandy" at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. And I must say, Panos Cosmatos' sophomore film effort was AMAZING! A beautifully crafted, heartbreaking, funny, disturbing, gory, sublime audiovisual hallucinatory "heavy metal opera" masterpiece! Panos' has forged an unforgettable film journey into the heart of darkness.
Cage, Roache & Riseborough all do a great job in their lead roles, and this last score from composer Johan Johansson (R.I.P.) that drives the film is PERFECT. This will easily be in my fave films list of 2018 (maybe my numero uno film by years end).
As I may see Mandy in cinema as many times as my fave film of this decade which was Mad Max Fury Road, and I saw Fury Road MANY times summer 2015. Hopefully it is playing at a cinema near you, because if you wanna start off your Halloween movie season proper, do it by getting your Cheddar Goblin's together and seeking out the awesome cinematic experience that is "Mandy".
