Review of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) by Jack B — 26 Nov 2013
People may have opposing views on how successful this film is, just as they have for its towering central figure. True the film starts shakily and at 2 and a half hours is a long stretch (missing much of Madela's youth) but it is passionately told and directed.
However more than anything else it is Idris Elba's mesmerising (oscar worthy) performance and Naomi Harris' sterling support that takes this biopic to sterling heights. A very balanced look at a both controversial and beloved figure.
