Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by Aldo G — 11 Feb 2017
Difficult to make an tear-jerker film when you're lead character is unable to express his feelings. Despite all the hype about Casey Affleck's performance and the movie asa whole, I was dismayed.
Two critical scenes are clumsily directed with music and no dialogue stripping away the potential for great emotional effect. The most heart-rending storyline, the one depicted on most movie posters, is buried under the main plot.
The entire thing was a masterwork in disappointment.
