Even though it feels overlong sometimes, Kenneth Lonergan's direction in "Manchester by the Sea" pushes the actors well enough (with Lucas Hedge and Casey Affleck standing out with a note) to bring out the best of his own script, which outstandingly showcases people's inner fight against profound grief.
