Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by Ryan B — 18 Jun 2018

One of the most brutal and honest movies of the year somehow carries with it hope and perseverance. Truly I think this is the best-acted movie of the year. Casey Affleck has now stepped into the heavyweight division and I can't wait to see what he does from here. He is a serious contender to win the best actor this year and I think he totally deserves it. Michelle Williams is a treasure and one of these days she will be more widely recognized for it. Needless to say, she's come a long way from Dawson's Creek and is deserving of some awards this year, too. She only has a handful of scenes, but with them, she absolutely shredded my heart.

All of the outstanding performances backed by beautiful cinematography that chilled my bones, Manchester By Sea won't be one I watch over and over again but is more than worthy to be on this list.
