Review of Man Without a Star (1955) by Robert P — 03 Feb 2009
Characteristically powerful performance from Kirk, ably assisted by strong back-up cast. The story does occasionally lose momentum but the moving is satifying. The resolution is a bit quick by comparision with today's films.
A kind of Western Casablanca, set amidst the irrisistable forces of modernisation. This movie shows the power of fable and myth to reflect back timeless concerns about growing up, progress and tkaing a side.
