Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by Hunter D — 11 Oct 2009
This movie is absolutely insane, the Soviets were easily the craziest and most inventive film editors of the silent era, and MAN WITH THE MOVIE CAMERA comes along at the very end of that period with something that is so inventive and wild that it still seems fresh eighty years later.
You can pull an entire arsenal of film and editing tricks out of this movie, it's an entire toolbelt of technique and style that runs for 68 minutes.
