Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by Caleb M — 18 Oct 2009
A breathtaking experiment that manages to be funny, scary, sad, and surreal. If I had to describe this in one word it would be dreamlike. Some parts are nightmarish while others are light and calm or filled with energy.
You will be worn out by this film when it is over, as it truly requires you to watch, listen and think. Just imagine how exciting, albeit confusing, it must have been for the original audiences to experience a film that invited them to share in the wonder of filmmaking!
