Review of Man Push Cart (2006) by Vince R — 27 Aug 2007
A quiet, thoughtful and enigmatic film that follows Pakistani immigrant Ahmad as he tries to eke a living on the streets on New York selling hot drinks and snacks from his stand. A deceptive film, it drew me in slowly until I began really caring about the character and the challenges he faced in his daily struggle.
In a post 9/11 world where the other is easily demonized, this puts a human face on life at the very bottom of a very long ladder.
