Review of Man on Wire (2008) by Terry D — 17 Jul 2010
I had previously only known Philippe Petit as the name behind the incredible and improbable high-wire walk between the twin towers of N.Y.C.'s World Trade Center early in their existence. It was delightful to get to know the man behind the amazing feat. I find Petit to be a very inspirational fellow, refusing to live life within some arbitrary set of boundaries. And he is so very passionate about LIFE. Now some may think this to be incongruous with a tightrope walker, but therein lies the irony...and the beauty.
"To me, it's really so simple, that life should be lived on the edge. You have to exercise rebellion. To refuse to tape yourself to the rules, to refuse your own success, to refuse to repeat yourself, to see every day, every year, every idea as a true challenge. Then you will live your life on the tightrope.".
~ Philippe Petit.
