Though this movie doesn't jump out and explore every ark previously covered in past Superman films, it brings a unique perspective to a modern day hero in that it explores childhood, adolescence, and adulthood to the fullest, while also showing Henry Cavill in a spectacular way.
A bold start to a universe, one that is definitely interesting and fully realized.
