Of all the new superhero origin movies Man of Steel is one of the best. (besides probably Iron man 1 and batman begins). Henry does a great job playing superman as he struggles to find a place in the world and the ending is suitably epic.
Some scenes are real clunkers (pa Kents death, superman fighting world engine at the end) which hold it back from being an all time classic. Zod and Faora shine as comic book villains and its nice to see a movie take the source material as serious as it takes itself for once and eschewing the cynical humor found in a lot of other comic book movies which are afraid to be honest and need to give a wink to the audience.
As a life long superman comic book reader I think fans will enjoy this take. Its not the ultra boring superman of animated series/marvel-light post crisis nor is it the great but tongue in cheek 1978 superman.
