Review of Man Down (2016) by Nathan S — 03 Dec 2016
Wow, the critics are completely off the mark! I loved the movie. It was like sitting down with a homeless vet suffering from PTSD for 75 minutes, hearing his backstory, not making much sense of it or caring as much as I should, but then getting thrown into his mind for 15 minutes during one of his violent episodes to experience the horror of his world.
It was a fascinating metamodernist experience if you will, and I've been thinking about it all day. I can totally see why Shia did this movie, and why it's going over critics' heads. But it's encouraging that audiences, real people, get it.
