Review of Man Bites Dog (1992) by Ojas V — 05 Feb 2010
A disturbing, and darkly humorous french mockumentary, set in a period of anomie, where serial killing is commonplace and somewhat tolerated as a petty crime. The camera men follow the trail of this auteur-serial killer, as he goes about his daily rampage life, with few consequences.
He loves the camera as much as his daily hobby, spouting off bullshit and letting the camera see his great works of terror. Along the way we meet his family and friends, who accept his lifestyle, and give him support.
There are parts where the film drags near the end, and the end does seemed tacked on to give a moral center, where largely there isn't one. But it definitely gives you an interesting perspective of a life with less boundaries than we have today.
