Most fake documentaries are made because they're easier to make than a narrative. This one was made that way to make it seem more real. The performances are fantastic, and it's extremely compelling.
It was an absolutely brilliant idea to have a serial killer talk non-chalantly about throwing dead bodies into a river and making sure you don't get caught. Ben is well spoken, intelligent, terrifying, and the farthest thing from a boring character.
