Review of Mammuth (2010) by Oscar R — 05 Oct 2011

An excellent set up and first thirty minutes seems to get lost somewhere along the line and what I had thought early on was going to be a really original little take on the road movie genre turned into a bit of a mish mash of I don't really know what.

Depardieu (despite being ridiculously obese) shows that he still has it with an excellent performance but bizarre early goings on that fit the bill alongside of the plot quickly just become bizarre as the plot slowly gets put on the back burner.

There are a couple of real 'Well I didn't see THAT coming' scenes that come out of nowhere and some decent chuckles from the performance of Yolande Moreau but I can't help thinking that although likeable in some sense 'Mammuth' is a bit of an opportunity for something far more worthwhile than what we have here.
