Review of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) by Davidtejada — 09 Nov 2018
“Giving the recognition, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again improves over the prequel, gives us excitement for ABBA’s best tracks and a little nostalgia for being produced almost 10 years ago”.
After watching the first movie, I was wondering whether it was a tribute or a lazy production. I was OK for me, because, when I saw it at the age of seven; I really enjoyed it, because, as a child, I used to like every movie I saw. Now, being 17, I conclude that it was sort-of-slothful but at least fun. Therefore, I went to watch the second part (which seems more like a prequel rather than a sequel) and it turned out that I really liked her. New characters (outstanding cast), new songs (Fernando, When I Kissed the Teacher, etc.), new (and bettered) plot. What else could I ask for? Mr. Parker gave a meaning for the first delivery. He gave what was missing in the first flick. The best of all is that it was never forced nor exasperating, but genuine and pleasurable. New auditions like Lily James or Alexa Davis’ make it much fresher. Making a sequel without the main character is challenging, well, in this case, not for Mr. Parker at all. The ending of this story is also charming, because it closes with a great tribute to our hero/favourite Donna’s character. The emotions are shown, the sensations felt, the entertainment enjoyed. It is a nice one to watch repeatedly. It is not perfect, indeed, because as the first one it follows a formula. For example, There is a problem, sing! There is a feeling, sing! There is something to behold, sing! That formula! In addition, it also just talks about love and the lack of it. So it just keeps repeating with each boyfriend/friend with benefits. Therefore, if talking about innovation, I particularly do not contemplate this as a good example.
