Review of Mama (2013) by Jeremiah M — 23 Aug 2013
First, the movie was scary when I was watching it at 3 AM. *Ahem* But, then I began to think, isn't this the SAME STORY AS THE WEEPING WOMAN? You know, legend from Latin America where the lady drowns her babies and basically wanders the world in search of them after they are gone?
MAMA lost her baby and found the two little girls, then she was ready to take them and finally rest in peace. WHICH IS THE SAME THING IN THE STORY OF THE WEEPING WOMAN. Until she finds her children, or surrogates, she will wander, peace-less.
So bleh for that. Same story on WOMAN IN BLACK. What the hell?
Fresh ideas, please!
As for the movie, I liked it. Scary moments. And the story actually builds to something! Which is grand for horror movies.
Watched twice by the way. I'm glad the ending was well-made.
Worth watching late at night, for sure.
