Review of Mama (2013) by Daniel P — 26 Oct 2013
This film was one of the creepiest, eeriest, suspense films of the year. Jessica Chastain is amazing in her portrayal of a punk-rock newly found mother. That said the film's plot as a whole felt pretty solid, except for the beginning sequence.
The 2008 financial crisis is not a good enough reason to kill your wife and business partners then, after you crash your car, take you daughters through the woods till you stumble upon an abandon cabin which happens to inhabit the soul/ghost of a deranged woman.
It's just not solid enough to begin a movie like this. But the rest of the movie... The real plot... Is fantastic and enlightening.
