Review of Malena (2000) by Ronen P — 03 Feb 2008
Whenever Tornatore writes a screenplay and directs, a masterpiece ensues. Monica Bellucci as Malena is probably one of the best casting decisions in the history of motion pictures. A touching story about a woman whom all women envy and all men desire, about cruelty and nobility, and about the fragility of good fortune.
Ennio Morricone's music is superb, as usual. This is truly one of my favorites. Just make sure you get the original, not the puritan version distributed in the US.
