Review of Malena (2000) by Ewan G — 05 Jun 2009
Young man has unrequited love for a beautiful woman in a small Sicilian village, Italy joins WWII, frustration, jealousy, lies.
Great Italian coming-of-age film which starts off as almost a comedy but gradually turns darker as the film goes on.
Giuseppe Sulfaro is very good as the young Renato & Monica Bellucci is just smouldering.
Very picturesque setting of a 1940's Sicilian village & then there's the music!! Fantastic score by Ennio Morricone which really adds to & carries the film along.
