The film is really good looking and it features a solid performance from Angelina Jolie, but the screenplay is not the best. The movie lacks heart and a good sense of adventure and storytelling. The movie also isn't funny when it tries to.
But all in all, Maleficent does offer a strong female character. That's always a plus in my book.
