Review of Make Way for Tomorrow (1937) by Matt M — 07 Jun 2013
An elderly couple is forced to stay apart after they lose their house. Finding their time away from each other almost unbearable, the two get perhaps their last chance to spend time together and relive their great lifelong romance.
Leo McCarey's poignantly touching drama is certainly one of the best pieces of traditional American cinema's storytelling, with its timeless disheartening portrayal of generational gaps and the epic and true magic of everlasting love.
Moore and Bondi as the elderly couple are fantastic and their characters are absolutely adorable.
