Review of Magnolia (1999) by Owen J — 20 Jun 2013
It was entertaining and unlike most 3hr movies it doesn't drag. The mosaic plot line is the most masterful and holds strong enough to compete with the renowned Pulp Fiction, and an equally cool cast.
I'm non-religious, and I don't quite get the piety of it. The blasphemy in his best work favorite work of mine, There Will Be Blood, makes it seem like Paul Thomas Anderson is critical of religion, and may be a deist or religiously ambiguous. Perhaps the spiritual significance is of it is referencing an indistinguishable god. This open ended god may represent his secular belief in god? Even if you're atheist you'll have great time watching this.
