Review of Magic in the Moonlight (2014) by Victoria D — 15 Aug 2014

I was super hopeful about this movie; Emma Stone, Colin Firth, Woody Allen and set in the 20s?? Sounds like a recipe for perfection! But it was faar from it. Just the way that the scenes were cut made it seem like I was watching a play and made the acting seem cheesy.

Colin Firth and Emma Stone are undoubtably good actors but their script and the filming did not do them justice. Their love for each other was not believable at all for obvious reasons that they even blatantly point out.

And the MUSIC. The music selection was not entirely ridiculous but how the music was incorporated was horrendous. They played happy jazzy music when something very serious was happening, didn't have any music when there needed to be some and the parts where the music began and ended was entirely flawed.

I gave this movie 1 star because the cinematography was beautiful. Other than that I was extremely disappointed and couldn't wait for it to end.
