I'll give them credit for promising a slow, bleak death march and delivering one but unfortunately that's all the film is. There's no real sense of who these characters are outside of what the film needs them to be and since we don't understand them there's no reason for us to care.

Breslin almost makes it work but she's not given much to work with. As to Schwarzenegger, it's nice to see him embrace his age for once but the illusion that he's giving any kind of revelatory performance can only be sustained for so long by disguising him with a beard, flannel shirts, and a lack of one-liners.
