Review of Maggie (2015) by Jeremy B — 27 Jul 2015
"Maggie" gets several things right, and tops on that list are the performances by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin, along with an intriguing premise, thoughtfully - and even compassionately - dealt with.
But the movie rarely hums along (a dinner scene has some humor and zip to it, likewise a sequence of a teen party crackles with life), insisting on burning far too slowly to capitalize on its strengths, and that - combined with some very ugly choices image-wise - makes this a rather disappointing film on any number of levels.
