Review of Madigan (1968) by Allan C — 08 Nov 2012
A streetwise cop movie, a couple of years before the really good stuff of the genre started to come. Unfortunately Madigan is extremely lame take on the classic "he doesn't go by the book" -narrative.
Astonishingly tedious acting by such great actors as Henry Fonda, Widmark, Harry Guardino. It's almost imbossible to imagine that Polonsky had his fingers on the script, since the plot is so incredibly weak - even though it goes all over the places (or maybe just because of that).
Well, of course the directing by Siegel is even weaker than the story. Should be avoided at any costs.
