Review of Mademoiselle Chambon (2009) by Sandy K — 23 Feb 2011
Jean is happily married, loves his young son, cares for his aging father, and takes pride in his work as a homebuilder. But when he takes a small home-repair job for his sonâ(TM)s lovely teacher and hears her play her violin, the haunting music reflects an underlying world-weariness in his life and unleashes a mid-life-crisis love attraction.
A French film with minimal dialog (so no difficulties keeping up with the subtitles!), but lots of long looks and soulful pauses as we watch him struggle with whether to succumb to this attraction or stay true to his family obligations.
