Review of Made in Dagenham (2010) by Randa D — 16 Jan 2011
Although successful in its framing of the female machinist's worthy cause, the whole of their plight is an aside used only as device to bring about much needed tension to a story that should, if told with a bit more honesty have friction to spare.
Nonetheless, I'm a sucker for labor films (F.I.S.T. wasn't so bad!), add womens' rights and good acting to the mix-- I'm in. But if you're hungry for a fiesty group of women whose struggle is as gritty as the mines where their men work, may I suggest Harlan County USA.
