Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by Anthony C — 29 Nov 2012
âMad Max 2: the Road Warriorâ? is a sequel that surpasses the original in every way. The chases are faster, the crashes are bigger, the stunts are more impressive, the characters are more memorable and the story is more tightly written.
The post-apocalyptic world is clearly defined, with itâ(TM)s own set of rules and a although Max is now a wanderer, he is given a goal and a clear path to follow, which the previous film was absent from the first film for a long stretch of time.
The stunts and crashes are really spectacular; these car crashes are devastating, with bodies and car parts flying all over the place and youâ(TM)ll be scratching your head trying to figure out how they pulled it off.
The last third of this film is a thrilling chase and there isnâ(TM)t one character that you can tell right away is going to make it. Everything is up for grabs and the film never pulls its punches so itâ(TM)s an edge of your seat ending.
The film is so good you donâ(TM)t need to see the first one to enjoy it (Though you should to really appreciate the escalation that has happened here). Itâ(TM)s a real adrenaline rush thatâ(TM)s a ton of fun.
