When I was younger I used to remember Mad Max 2 for the villains, the villains were magnificently over the top, but very enjoyable to see. However, ten years on from originally seeing the film, I was able to enjoy a new appreciation for the film, much better then the previous time Iâ(TM)d seen it. Even though the actual storyline itself is very minimum, this film is a good example of the concept âsimple story, good filmâ?.

Mel Gibson, with just 16 lines, 2 of which are the same, is perfect in his role, there is a reason it is one of his most iconic roles, and it is all through his body language, his stance, his eyes. Max is all about his car, his dog, and his gas, his dark persona impressioned upon him since the first film. It is also great seeing him with a ready made knee brace, reflecting the harshness of the world around him.

The cast behind Gibson are much stronger then I remembered, characters such as The Gyro Captain, Pappagallo & The Warrior Woman were good back-up, all had their own little moments and with several of the heroes being killed off, you did feel the effect of it slightly in comparison to some films. However, the best two supporting cast were the villain Humungus and his henchman Wez. Humungus was freakishly massive with a charismatic and articulate style, which made him a surprising but interesting villain, and his henchman Wez was one of the best I have ever seen, his maniacal edge mixing well against his hated opponent in Max.

Great film, wonderfully enjoyable, have to see it more often.
