Review of Mad Max (1979) by Lachlan D — 09 Jun 2014
Mad Max is successful at building tension and as a result its well executed action sequences pack more punch than your typical ozploitation film achieving a perfect balance between shocking and exhilarating.
Furthermore the story is built from a script that has strong core character development as well as an engaging plot. Unfortunately the frills surrounding this film are quite campy. Overall the production design is very good however it is undermined by the Liberacesque costume design.
What this film could have used an approach based on emphasizing the gritty realism of the world.
